Whenever I go to a new place, I go to its highest point. Arthur’s seat is the highest point in Edinburgh, so obviously I just had to go there. ย I found 3 different paths to go to the top, but accidentally chose the steepest one while climbing. It was a little(!) difficult because I had a heavy backpack on my back. But still I made it on top, and it was worth it.
So I started from the Edinburgh castle. You dont need to ask anyone, cause you can literally see it from any part of Edinburgh. When you arrive near the hilly area, then it gets a bit confusing. Because there are multiple peaks, and people are going here and there, to different peaks, its hard to identify which on is Arthur’s seat. Its best that you use GPS, or ask local vendors. I asked the shop keeper of an ice cream van at that place and started going. And I asked literally everyone I met “Which way is Arthur’s seat, please?” Finally, went close to the bottom of the peak from where you can see the top. I took a little rest and started climbing to the Arthur’s seat, and my bad, I chose the steepest part.
The fascinating part on top is the view. Its totally amazing. You’re at the highest point, and you can see the whole Edinburgh city, as well as the sea on the other side. The biggest disappointment for me was there was neither any seat, nor any throne. Just 2 rocks, and on 1 of them, someone drew some graffiti of some sort. I was really expecting to see King Arthur’s throne up there ๐ Nevertheless, I enjoyed the view there. Fresh wind was coming from the sea, and it took away all my fatigues instantly. I was fully recharged to go to my next venture. However, it didnt feel like coming down from there, because I really enjoyed the view and the wind from there.
On my way down, I could see all the hiking paths from the top, and chose the easiest one, that heads towards the sea and a small lake. (Thats the easiest path, but the longest one), should have taken this one on my way to top.
If u missed Arthur’s seat, please go to Edinburgh again. Full stop.
